Job Summary
The Electrical Engineer is responsible for designing, planning, supervising, and maintaining electrical systems and installations in construction, industrial, or operational environments. The role ensures that all electrical works are executed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with project specifications, standards, and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Design & Engineering Support
- Prepare, review, and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and specifications.
- Develop electrical system designs including power distribution, lighting, grounding, and ELV systems.
- Support technical calculations such as load estimation, cable sizing, and voltage drop analysis.
- Coordinate with architects, mechanical engineers, and consultants for integrated system design.
- Review shop drawings, material submittals, and technical documents.
Project Execution & Site Supervision
- Supervise electrical installation activities at project sites.
- Ensure works are carried out according to approved drawings, standards, and specifications.
- Coordinate with contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers for smooth execution.
- Monitor project progress and ensure timely completion of electrical works.
- Resolve technical issues arising during construction or installation.
Testing & Commissioning
- Oversee testing and commissioning of electrical systems and equipment.
- Conduct inspections and ensure compliance with quality standards.
- Verify proper functioning of power systems, lighting, control systems, and ELV networks.
- Prepare testing reports and commissioning documentation.
Maintenance & Troubleshooting (if applicable)
- Diagnose and repair electrical faults in systems and equipment.
- Implement preventive and corrective maintenance programs.
- Monitor equipment performance and ensure operational reliability.
- Minimize downtime through efficient troubleshooting and repair.
Quality & Safety Compliance
- Ensure compliance with electrical codes, standards, and regulations (e.g., IEC, NEC, local authority requirements).
- Enforce health, safety, and environmental (HSE) procedures on site.
- Conduct risk assessments and ensure safe working practices.
- Participate in quality inspections and audits.
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain accurate project documentation, reports, and as-built drawings.
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly progress reports.
- Track material usage, site instructions, and technical queries (RFIs).
- Support project handover and final documentation.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
- 2–8 years of experience in electrical engineering, construction, or maintenance projects.
- Strong knowledge of electrical systems such as power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, and ELV systems.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and technical specifications.
- Familiarity with relevant electrical codes and standards.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, MS Office, and engineering tools.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent certification.
- Experience in commercial, residential, industrial, infrastructure, or MEP projects.
- Knowledge of BIM tools and project coordination software.
- Certification in safety standards (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH).
- Experience in testing and commissioning of electrical systems.
