Job Description: Production Manager (Joinery)
Job Summary
The Production Manager (Joinery) is responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing all joinery production activities to ensure the timely delivery of high-quality products. The role involves managing production schedules, supervising workshop personnel, optimizing resource utilization, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards, and driving continuous improvement in manufacturing processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, organize, and manage daily joinery production operations to meet project deadlines and production targets.
- Develop and monitor production schedules in coordination with the project, procurement, and installation teams.
- Supervise workshop staff, including carpenters, machine operators, finishers, and supervisors.
- Ensure all joinery products are manufactured according to approved drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
- Monitor productivity, workflow efficiency, and resource utilization to optimize production performance.
- Coordinate the availability of materials, machinery, tools, and manpower for uninterrupted production.
- Ensure proper operation and maintenance of woodworking machinery and production equipment.
- Implement and maintain quality control procedures throughout the production process.
- Monitor production costs and minimize material waste while maintaining product quality.
- Enforce health, safety, and environmental regulations within the workshop.
- Identify production issues and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Collaborate with design, engineering, procurement, and installation teams to resolve technical and production-related challenges.
- Prepare production reports, performance metrics, and progress updates for senior management.
- Train, mentor, and evaluate production staff to enhance performance and skill development.
- Promote continuous improvement initiatives to increase productivity, quality, and operational efficiency.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Wood Technology, Production Management, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
- Technical certification in woodworking, joinery, or manufacturing is an advantage.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of joinery manufacturing processes, woodworking techniques, and production planning.
- Experience with woodworking machinery, CNC machines, edge banders, panel saws, and related equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, shop drawings, and production specifications.
- Strong leadership, team management, and supervisory skills.
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
- Knowledge of quality management systems and production control.
- Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems and production scheduling software.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Effective communication and coordination skills.
- Good understanding of workplace health and safety regulations.
Preferred Experience
- 7–10 years of experience in joinery or woodworking manufacturing, including at least 3 years in a supervisory or production management role.
- Experience in custom furniture, architectural joinery, interior fit-out, or modular cabinetry manufacturing is highly preferred.
- Proven ability to manage high-volume production while maintaining quality and delivery schedules.
Work Environment
- Manufacturing workshop or factory environment with regular interaction between production, design, procurement, and project teams.
- Frequent monitoring of workshop operations and machinery.
- May require extended working hours to meet production deadlines and project delivery schedules.
