2. Detailed Job Purpose
The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for providing comprehensive, patient-centered nursing care in accordance with the Dubai Health Authority (DHA) standards and hospital policies. The RN will utilize the nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation) to achieve the best possible patient outcomes. This role requires a high degree of clinical expertise, critical thinking, and empathy, ensuring a safe and therapeutic environment for patients and their families.
3. Key Responsibilities & Duties
Clinical Practice:
- Perform thorough and systematic patient assessments, identifying physical, psychological, and social needs.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized nursing care plans.
- Administer medications, treatments, and intravenous therapy safely and as prescribed.
- Monitor patient vitals and condition, recognizing and responding promptly to changes in status.
- Operate complex medical equipment specific to the assigned unit (e.g., ventilators in NICU, monitors in ER, surgical equipment in OR).
- Maintain strict adherence to infection prevention and control protocols.
- Provide pre- and post-operative care for surgical patients.
Documentation & Communication:
- Maintain accurate, legible, and confidential electronic health records (EHR).
- Document all nursing interventions, patient responses, and care plans in a timely manner.
- Effectively hand over patient information during shift changes.
- Collaborate and communicate clearly with doctors, consultants, and the multidisciplinary healthcare team.
- Educate patients and their families on disease management, treatment plans, and healthy lifestyle practices.
Professional & Ethical Conduct:
- Uphold the highest standards of professional ethics and patient confidentiality.
- Participate in continuous quality improvement initiatives and clinical audits.
- Adhere to all DHA regulations, JCI standards, and hospital policies and procedures.
- Demonstrate cultural sensitivity while caring for a diverse patient population.
4. Qualifications, Experience & Licensing
Mandatory Requirements:
- Educational: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or equivalent diploma.
- Experience: A minimum of 2 years of recent, full-time clinical experience in a hospital setting within a GCC country (UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Oman, Kuwait, Bahrain).
- License: A valid DHA License OR a passed DHA Eligibility Letter (Proof of Dataflow and passed Prometric/OTA exam).
- Certifications: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and/or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) are required for critical care areas like ER, ICU, and Pediatrics.

5. Specialties in Detail
- Medical-Surgical: Manage a diverse patient population with a wide range of medical and surgical conditions.
- Emergency Room (ER): Provide immediate assessment and life-saving interventions for trauma and acutely ill patients.
- Operating Theatre (OT/OR): Function as a Scrub Nurse, Circulating Nurse, or Anaesthesia Nurse in various surgical procedures.
- Outpatient Department (OPD): Deliver specialized care in a clinic setting, including health assessments, injections, and follow-up care.
