Security / Network Engineer
Job Summary:
The Security/Network Engineer is responsible for the design, implementation, monitoring, and maintenance of the organization's network infrastructure and security posture. This dual-focused role ensures network reliability, performance, and security by defending against threats, vulnerabilities, and unauthorized access.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, configure, and maintain network hardware and software (routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs, load balancers).
- Implement and manage security appliances and tools (Firewalls, IDS/IPS, SIEM, Endpoint Protection).
- Monitor network and security systems for performance issues, anomalies, and security breaches.
- Respond to and investigate security incidents, conducting root cause analysis and implementing remediation.
- Develop and enforce network security policies, standards, and procedures.
- Perform vulnerability assessments and penetration testing; coordinate and track remediation efforts.
- Manage network access control, authentication, and authorization systems.
- Plan and execute network infrastructure upgrades and security patches.
- Collaborate with other IT teams to ensure secure architecture and configuration of new systems and applications.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or related field.
- 5+ years of combined experience in network engineering and information security.
- In-depth knowledge of networking protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, BGP, OSPF) and network architecture.
- Hands-on experience with security technologies (Firewalls from Palo Alto/Cisco/Fortinet, SIEM tools, etc.).
- Strong understanding of cybersecurity frameworks (NIST, ISO 27001) and compliance requirements.
- Experience with cloud security (AWS, Azure, GCP) is highly desirable.
- Relevant certifications such as CCNA/CCNP Security, CompTIA Security+, CISSP, or CEH are strongly preferred.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure during security incidents.
