Position Overview:
The Sales Manager for Groups & Events is responsible for generating and managing group business, including corporate meetings, incentives, conferences, social events (weddings, galas), and other group bookings. This role focuses on building relationships with clients, negotiating contracts, and achieving individual and team revenue targets for the rooms and event space.
Key Responsibilities:
- Business Generation: Proactively prospect, solicit, and secure new group and event business through sales calls, site inspections, industry events, and networking.
- Account Management: Serve as the primary contact for assigned clients. Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with key accounts, event planners, and corporate clients.
- Sales Process Management: Manage the entire sales cycle from lead generation and proposal creation to contract negotiation and booking handover to operations.
- Revenue Goals: Achieve and exceed pre-determined sales targets for room nights, banquet revenue, and overall group revenue.
- Proposals & Contracts: Prepare detailed, compelling proposals and contracts that meet client needs while protecting the resort's interests and profitability.
- Site Inspections: Plan and conduct impressive and effective site inspections for potential clients.
- Market Intelligence: Maintain knowledge of market trends, competitor activity, and pricing strategies. Utilize the CRM system (e.g., Salesforce, Delphi) to track all activities and manage pipeline.
- Cross-Departmental Coordination: Work closely with the Convention Services, Catering, and Rooms Division teams to ensure a smooth transition and successful execution of events.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Hospitality, or related field.
- Minimum of 5+ years of experience in group sales within the hotel/resort or hospitality industry.
- Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales quotas and managing a complex sales pipeline.
- Excellent negotiation, presentation, and communication skills (written and verbal).
- Strong client relationship management skills.
- Proficiency in CRM software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to travel for trade shows and client meetings as required.
- Fluency in English is essential; additional languages are highly valued.
