Position Overview:
The Accounting Manager is a key member of the finance team, responsible for overseeing the daily accounting operations of the resort. This role ensures the accuracy and integrity of financial data, timely month-end closing, adherence to internal controls, and compliance with local and international accounting standards. The position supervises a team of accountants and clerks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Reporting: Prepare and review accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP/IFRS and company policies.
- Month-End Close: Lead and execute a timely and accurate month-end closing process, including journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and variance analysis.
- Team Supervision: Manage, train, and develop the accounting staff (A/P, A/R, Payroll, General Cashiering).
- Internal Controls: Implement, monitor, and enforce robust internal control procedures to safeguard hotel assets. Assist with internal and external audits.
- Payroll & Ledger Oversight: Oversee the payroll process and ensure the integrity of the general ledger.
- Budgeting & Forecasting Support: Assist the Director of Finance in the annual budgeting and periodic forecasting processes.
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with all local tax regulations (VAT, Sales Tax, etc.) and statutory reporting requirements.
- Systems & Process Improvement: Utilize the hotel's accounting system (e.g., Oracle, SAP, MS Dynamics) effectively and identify opportunities for process improvements and automation.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA or equivalent international certification is highly preferred.
- Minimum of 7+ years of accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a supervisory role within the hospitality industry.
- In-depth knowledge of hotel accounting practices, cost control, and operational finance.
- Strong understanding of GAAP/IFRS and internal controls.
- Advanced proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
- Meticulous attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and high integrity.
- Excellent communication skills to interact with non-financial department heads.
- Fluency in English and the local business language.
