IT Sales Executive
Job Title: IT Sales Executive (or Technology Sales Representative)
Department: Sales / Business Development
Reports To: Sales Manager, Director of Sales
Overview:
An IT Sales Executive is responsible for driving revenue by selling complex technology products, software solutions, or IT services to businesses (B2B). They build relationships, understand client challenges, and propose tailored technology solutions that address specific business needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prospecting & Lead Generation: Identify and research potential clients (new logos) through networking, cold calling, digital channels, and industry events.
- Needs Analysis: Conduct in-depth discovery meetings with key decision-makers (CTOs, CIOs, IT Managers) to understand their business challenges, technical environment, and strategic goals.
- Solution Presentation & Demos: Articulate the value proposition of the technology product/service. Deliver compelling presentations and product demonstrations tailored to the client's needs.
- Proposal Development: Prepare and present detailed proposals, quotes, and contracts, often involving complex pricing models and service level agreements (SLAs).
- Negotiation & Closing: Navigate the sales cycle, overcome objections, negotiate terms, and close deals to meet or exceed sales quotas.
- Account Management: Foster long-term relationships with clients, ensuring satisfaction, identifying up-sell/cross-sell opportunities, and acting as the primary point of contact.
- Market Intelligence: Stay updated on market trends, competitors, and new technologies to position offerings effectively.
- CRM Management: Maintain accurate records of all sales activities, pipeline, and forecasts in a CRM system like Salesforce or HubSpot.
- Internal Collaboration: Work closely with pre-sales engineers, marketing, and technical teams to develop winning strategies for large opportunities.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, IT, or a related field.
- Technical Skills:
- Strong understanding of the IT landscape (cloud, SaaS, cybersecurity, networking, etc.).
- Ability to quickly learn and explain complex technical products.
- Proficiency with CRM software and sales enablement tools.
- Soft Skills: Hunter mentality, exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, resilience, strong negotiation skills, and a results-driven attitude. High emotional intelligence.
