Operations Supervisor - Logistics & Delivery

🔑 Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership & Driver Management:
- Directly supervise a team of delivery drivers and helpers.
- Schedule shifts, assign routes, and manage daily driver check-ins/check-outs.
- Conduct daily safety meetings (pre-shift huddles) and promote a culture of safety first.
- Handle driver coaching, training, and performance reviews.
- Foster a positive, accountable, and productive team environment.
Daily Operations & Performance Management:
- Monitor real-time delivery progress using telematics and routing software.
- Ensure all routes are completed efficiently, meeting delivery windows and customer requirements.
- Audit driver logs, vehicle inspection reports (DVIRs), and compliance documentation.
- Create and analyze daily performance reports (e.g., on-time delivery %, exceptions, productivity, fuel usage).
- Identify trends and recommend process improvements to enhance operational efficiency.
Customer Service & Escalation Management:
- Act as the primary point of contact for operations escalations, resolving service failures, missed deliveries, and customer complaints promptly.
- Liaise with the customer service team to provide real-time updates and solutions.
- Proactively communicate delays or issues to relevant stakeholders.
Administrative & Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with all DOT, OSHA, and company safety regulations.
- Assist with inventory management of shipping supplies and equipment.
- Contribute to budgeting and cost-control efforts (e.g., reducing overtime, managing fuel costs).
- Maintain accurate records and prepare operational summaries for management.
✅ What We're Looking For (Qualifications)
Required:
- Proven experience (2+ years) in a logistics, transportation, or delivery supervisory role.
- Direct experience managing drivers in a last-mile, parcel, or freight delivery setting.
- Demonstrated skill in creating daily performance reports and using data to drive decisions.
- Strong track record of managing operations escalations and solving problems under pressure.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency with logistics software (e.g., routing platforms, TMS, ELD) and MS Office (especially Excel).
- Basic understanding of DOT regulations and safety standards.
Preferred:
- Experience in a fast-paced e-commerce or retail delivery environment.
- Knowledge of HOS (Hours of Service) rules.
- Familiarity with Lean or Six Sigma methodologies for process improvement.
- A valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
