Position Overview:
We are seeking a meticulous and experienced Senior Accountant to oversee critical financial operations. The ideal candidate will be a proactive leader with deep expertise in financial reporting, ERP system management, and ensuring strict regulatory compliance. You will be responsible for maintaining the integrity of financial data, improving processes, and providing strategic insights to support business decisions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Reporting & Analysis:
- Prepare accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow) in accordance with IFRS.
- Perform detailed financial analysis, including variance analysis, trend identification, and budget vs. actual reporting.
- Lead the month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring all deadlines are met.
- Prepare and present financial reports and summaries to senior management.
- ERP & Systems Management:
- Serve as the super-user and key point of contact for the company's ERP system (e.g., Oracle, SAP, Microsoft Dynamics).
- Ensure optimal utilization of the ERP for all accounting modules (GL, AP, AR, Fixed Assets).
- Identify and implement process improvements and automation within the financial systems to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Train and support junior staff on ERP procedures.
- Regulatory Compliance & Governance:
- Ensure full compliance with Qatar Financial Centre (QFC) regulations, tax laws (including VAT), and other local statutory requirements.
- Liaise with external auditors, tax advisors, and regulatory bodies as required.
- Maintain robust internal controls and ensure adherence to company policies and procedures.
- Stay updated on changes in accounting standards and local regulations.
- General Accounting & Leadership:
- Oversee the general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll functions.
- Review and approve journal entries, account reconciliations, and fixed asset registers.
- Mentor, guide, and review the work of junior accounting staff.
- Assist in budgeting and forecasting processes.
- Support ad-hoc financial projects and initiatives as required.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Essential:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Professional accounting qualification (CPA, CA, ACCA, CMA) is mandatory.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2-3 years in a senior role.
- Proven, hands-on experience with a major ERP system.
- In-depth knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
- Strong experience with financial reporting, analysis, and closing processes.
- Excellent command of written and spoken English.
- Preferred:
- Prior work experience in Qatar or the GCC region, with knowledge of QFC regulations and VAT.
- Proficiency in Arabic is a strong advantage.
- Experience in the consulting or professional services industry.
