General Practitioner (GP)
Location: Abu Dhabi, UAE

Department: Primary Care / Family Medicine
Job Purpose:
To provide comprehensive, patient-centered primary healthcare services to individuals and families across all age groups. The GP will diagnose, treat, and manage a wide range of acute and chronic conditions, emphasizing prevention, health education, and continuity of care within the community of Abu Dhabi.
Key Responsibilities:
Clinical Duties:
- Conduct thorough patient consultations, including history taking, physical examinations, and assessment of symptoms.
- Diagnose, treat, and manage acute illnesses, infections, minor injuries, and chronic diseases (e.g., hypertension, diabetes, asthma).
- Provide preventive care, including health screenings, immunizations (following UAE MOHAP/DoH protocols), and lifestyle counseling.
- Perform minor surgical procedures (e.g., suturing, wound care, incision & drainage).
- Prescribe medications appropriately and manage prescriptions in compliance with UAE regulations.
- Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential electronic medical records (EMR).
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests (e.g., lab, radiology) and refer patients to specialists when necessary.
- Provide antenatal and postnatal care, pediatric care, and basic geriatric management.
Patient Management & Coordination:
- Develop and manage long-term treatment plans for patients with chronic conditions.
- Coordinate patient care with specialists, hospitals, pharmacists, and allied health professionals.
- Ensure effective follow-up and monitoring of patient progress.
- Provide clear patient education regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, and preventive health measures.
Administrative & Regulatory Compliance:
- Adhere strictly to all policies, procedures, and clinical guidelines of the facility and the Abu Dhabi Department of Health (DoH) / UAE Ministry of Health and Prevention (MOHAP).
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives, clinical audits, and peer reviews.
- Maintain all required medical licenses (DoH/MOHAP license), professional certifications, and CME hours.
- Ensure compliance with infection control, health & safety, and patient confidentiality standards.
Required Qualifications & Skills:
- Medical Degree: MBBS or equivalent from an accredited institution.
- Post-Graduate Qualification: Completion of a recognized residency program in Family Medicine or General Practice. Board certification (e.g., Arab Board, American Board, UK CCT) is highly preferred.
- Licensure: Valid and current Department of Health (DoH) Abu Dhabi license or eligibility letter is mandatory.
- Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of post-residency experience as a practicing GP. Experience in the UAE or GCC is a significant advantage.
- Skills: Excellent clinical judgment, strong communication and interpersonal skills, proficiency in EMR systems, cultural sensitivity, and fluency in English. Arabic language skills are highly beneficial.
