Site Engineer (Civil) – Abu Dhabi
Job Title: Civil Site Engineer
Location: Abu Dhabi, UAE (Site-based)
Reporting To: Construction Manager / Senior Site Engineer

Overall Purpose:
To provide engineering and technical support directly on the construction front line. The Site Engineer is responsible for the accurate translation of design drawings into the finished structure, overseeing specific work sections or packages, ensuring technical compliance, quality of workmanship, and accurate documentation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Setting-Out & Surveying:
- Perform precise setting-out of the work using total stations, GPS, and levels before any construction activity begins.
- Check and verify dimensional control and levels at various stages of construction.
- Maintain all survey equipment and records.
- Technical Supervision & Quality Control:
- Supervise a specific work area (e.g., foundations, concrete works, finishing) to ensure compliance with drawings and specifications.
- Conduct daily inspections of works in progress. Raise Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) for defective work and follow up on corrective actions.
- Prepare and submit Inspection Requests (IRs) to the consultant for approval at each hold point.
- Documentation & Reporting:
- Prepare daily site diaries, records of manpower, and equipment.
- Monitor quantities of work done for interim payments (measurements).
- Raise technical queries (RFIs) to the design team through the Construction Manager.
- Assist in the preparation of As-built drawings.
- Site Coordination & Support:
- Liaise with foremen and chargehands to communicate daily tasks and technical requirements.
- Coordinate with other disciplines (MEP, structural steel) to avoid clashes.
- Assist the HSE officer in implementing safety measures within his/her area.
- Monitor concrete pours, material deliveries, and sampling for tests.
- Compliance:
- Ensure all works follow the approved method statements and risk assessments.
- Verify that materials on site have the necessary approval (Material Approval Requests - MARs) and test reports.
Requirements for Abu Dhabi Context:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
- Experience: 3-8 years of post-graduate experience in building or infrastructure construction. Experience with a main contractor is preferred.
- Local Experience: Highly Preferred. 2+ years of UAE/GCC site engineering experience is a major advantage, as it demonstrates familiarity with local materials, practices, and consultant protocols.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in setting-out and surveying instruments (Total Station, Auto Level), strong understanding of construction techniques, and good AutoCAD skills. Knowledge of QA/QC procedures is essential.
- Soft Skills: Diligent, detail-oriented, able to work long hours in a tough outdoor environment, good communicator, and team player.
- Licensing: Graduate membership of a recognized engineering body is often required for visa processing.
- Language: Fluency in English. Additional languages are a plus.
