Construction Manager (Civil) – Abu Dhabi
Job Title: Civil Construction Manager / Senior Site Manager
Location: Abu Dhabi, UAE (Site-based)

Overall Purpose:
To be the single point of responsibility for all on-site construction activities. The Construction Manager translates the project plan into physical reality, directly managing day-to-day site operations, labor, equipment, and subcontractors to achieve production targets, safety goals, and quality standards set by the Project Manager.
Key Responsibilities:
- On-Site Execution & Daily Operations:
- Direct and control all site construction activities, including planning daily, weekly, and monthly work schedules for crews and subcontractors.
- Supervise Site Engineers, surveyors, and foremen to ensure work is executed as per drawings and method statements.
- Oversee the coordination of manpower, materials, and plant/equipment logistics on site.
- Subcontractor & Workforce Management:
- Manage and direct all subcontractors on site, ensuring their work is integrated, on schedule, and meets quality/safety standards.
- Resolve day-to-day technical and coordination issues between different trades (e.g., civil, MEP, structural).
- Monitor workforce productivity and implement corrective actions.
- Health, Safety & Environment (HSE):
- Enforce the Project HSE Plan on site as the highest priority. Conduct regular safety walks and toolbox talks.
- Ensure a safe, clean, and organized site in compliance with local Abu Dhabi HSE regulations and company policies.
- Investigate and report any incidents or near-misses immediately.
- Quality Control & Technical Compliance:
- Ensure all construction complies with the IFC (Issued for Construction) drawings, specifications, and method statements.
- Work closely with the QA/QC team to implement inspection and test plans (ITPs). Oversee material inspections and testing.
- Liaise with the Site Engineers to resolve technical queries (RFIs) and supervise setting-out activities.
- Reporting & Coordination:
- Provide daily and weekly progress reports to the Project Manager.
- Coordinate directly with the client's site representative and consultant's site inspector for day-to-day approvals and inspections.
- Monitor site progress against the micro-schedule and report any delays with recovery plans.
Requirements for Abu Dhabi Context:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management.
- Experience: Minimum 12+ years in construction, with at least 5+ years in a Construction Manager or Senior Site Manager role on major projects.
- Local Experience: Critical. Must have extensive hands-on site management experience (min. 5 years) in the UAE/GCC, with a deep understanding of Abu Dhabi's site logistics, labor dynamics, and climate challenges (heat management).
- Technical Skills: Proficient in reading complex drawings, planning software, and strong knowledge of construction methodologies. Must be highly practical and solution-oriented.
- Soft Skills: Strong leadership, decisive decision-making, excellent communication, and the ability to manage a large, multicultural workforce under pressure.
- Licensing: Relevant engineering membership is preferred.
- Language: Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of Hindi/Urdu or Arabic is very beneficial for workforce management.
