Job Overview:
The Nurse Manager/Charge Nurse is responsible for the management and supervision of a specific nursing unit or shift. This role ensures the delivery of high-quality patient care, efficient unit operations, staff development, and compliance with all regulatory standards. The position blends clinical expertise with leadership and administrative duties.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide daily operational leadership for the nursing unit, including staffing, scheduling, and resource allocation.
- Supervise, mentor, and evaluate the performance of nursing staff (RNs, LPNs, aides).
- Ensure clinical care is delivered in accordance with established policies, protocols, and accreditation standards (JCIA, DHA/DoH).
- Act as a clinical resource and role model for staff, often handling complex patient situations.
- Manage patient flow, bed occupancy, and coordinate with other departments.
- Monitor unit budgets, control inventory, and manage supplies and equipment.
- Handle patient and family concerns, escalating as necessary.
- Lead quality assurance projects, incident reporting, and risk management initiatives.
- Facilitate staff meetings and provide ongoing training and professional development.
- Ensure a safe, therapeutic, and compliant environment for patients and staff.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required; Master's in Nursing or Healthcare Administration preferred.
- Valid DHA/DoH/HAAD license as a Registered Nurse.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of clinical experience, with at least 2-3 years in a supervisory or charge role.
- Proven leadership, decision-making, and conflict-resolution skills.
- Strong understanding of healthcare regulations, accreditation, and financial management.
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
