Phlebotomist
Job Title: Phlebotomist - Abu Dhabi

Reports To: Laboratory Manager / Chief Phlebotomist
Job Overview:
A Phlebotomist is responsible for drawing blood samples from patients for medical testing, transfusions, donations, or research. They ensure the correct identification of patients, proper labeling of specimens, and the safe and comfortable collection of blood via venipuncture or capillary puncture.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform venipuncture and capillary punctures on patients of all ages using sterile techniques.
- Correctly identify patients using established protocols (two-point verification).
- Label, process, and prepare blood samples for laboratory analysis.
- Maintain meticulous records of specimens collected and tests performed.
- Ensure patient comfort and alleviate anxiety during the procedure.
- Adhere to strict safety protocols, including proper disposal of sharps and biohazard materials.
- Manage and organize supplies, ensuring phlebotomy stations are well-stocked and clean.
- Follow all laboratory policies, procedures, and quality control measures.
- Transport specimens to the laboratory in a timely manner.
- Provide basic patient care post-procedure and manage minor adverse reactions.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent; completion of an accredited Phlebotomy Certificate program.
- Valid DHA/DoH/HAAD license as a Phlebotomist.
- Proven proficiency in venipuncture techniques.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and laboratory procedures.
- Attention to detail, manual dexterity, and a compassionate bedside manner.
