Nursery Principal
Position Overview:
The Nursery Principal is the senior leader responsible for the overall management, strategic direction, and operational excellence of the nursery. They ensure the highest standards of care, education, and safety, while leading the staff team and maintaining strong partnerships with parents and the community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership & Management: Provide inspirational leadership to all staff. Manage nursery operations, including budgeting, resource allocation, and administration. Recruit, induct, mentor, and appraise staff.
- Curriculum & Quality Assurance: Oversee the development and implementation of a broad, engaging, and developmentally appropriate early years curriculum (e.g., EYFS). Ensure all practices meet and exceed the standards of regulatory bodies (e.g., Ofsted, KHDA, local authorities).
- Safeguarding & Welfare: Act as the designated safeguarding lead (DSL). Ensure the nursery environment is completely safe, secure, and compliant with all health, safety, and welfare policies. Manage all child protection issues with utmost confidentiality and professionalism.
- Parent & Community Partnership: Serve as the primary point of contact for parents, fostering strong, transparent, and supportive relationships. Organize parent meetings, workshops, and events. Build links with the local community and other professionals.
- Development & Compliance: Drive continuous improvement through self-evaluation, staff training, and policy updates. Ensure 100% compliance with all statutory and legal requirements.
Person Specification:
- Minimum of a Level 5/6 qualification in Early Years/Childcare or equivalent (e.g., BA Hons, EYPS, QTS).
- Significant proven experience in a nursery leadership/management role.
- In-depth knowledge of EYFS and regulatory frameworks.
- Exceptional communication, financial, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong leadership, vision, and problem-solving abilities.
