Job Overview:
The Security Officer is responsible for protecting the company’s property, assets, and personnel by maintaining a safe and secure environment. This involves patrolling premises, controlling access points, and responding to emergencies and disturbances.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct regular foot and/or vehicle patrols of the premises, including buildings, perimeters, and parking lots.
- Monitor and authorize entrance and departure of employees, visitors, and other persons to guard against theft and maintain security.
- Operate security access control systems at entry points.
- Respond promptly to alarms, incidents, and emergency situations (fire, medical, security breach) and provide assistance as needed.
- Write clear, concise, and accurate incident reports for all security-related occurrences.
- Enforce company policies and procedures related to security and safety.
- Provide excellent customer service by assisting employees and visitors with directions and inquiries.
- Liaise with law enforcement, fire departments, and emergency medical services when required.
- Perform lock-up and unlock procedures for facilities.
Qualifications & Skills:
- High school diploma or equivalent. Security training/licensing as required by local law.
- Proven experience as a Security Officer or similar role.
- Strong physical fitness and the ability to stand/walk for long periods.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to operate detecting systems and emergency equipment (e.g., fire extinguishers, radios).
- Keen observation skills and a professional, courteous demeanor.
- Basic first aid and CPR certification is preferred.
