Chemical / Process Engineer
Job Title: Chemical / Process Engineer (Water Treatment)
Location: Kingdom of Saudi Arabia
Project Type: Sea Water Reverse Osmosis (SWRO) Plants & Wastewater Treatment Plants (WWTP).
Job Summary:
We are looking for a Chemical/Process Engineer to manage the process design and commissioning of water treatment facilities. You will be responsible for ensuring that the treatment processes (pre-treatment, RO membranes, post-treatment, or biological treatment) are designed to meet the required effluent quality standards efficiently and cost-effectively.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process Design: Develop PFDs (Process Flow Diagrams) and P&IDs (Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams). Perform mass balance and chemical dosing calculations (coagulants, antiscalants, chlorine).
- Equipment Specification: Prepare data sheets for process equipment such as pumps, membranes, diffusers, screens, and chemical dosing systems.
- Performance Monitoring: Monitor process performance during commissioning and operation. Troubleshoot issues related to water quality (TDS, turbidity, pH, BOD/COD) and optimize chemical consumption.
- Commissioning: Lead or support the commissioning team in start-up activities, including clean-in-place (CIP) procedures for membranes and biological seeding for WWTPs.
- Compliance: Ensure design and operation comply with Saudi and international standards for drinking water and treated sewage effluent (TSE) quality.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering or Process Engineering.
- Experience: 7-12 years of experience in water and wastewater treatment.
- Technical Skills:
- Desalination Expert: Deep understanding of RO technology, membrane selection, and energy recovery devices (PX, Turbochargers).
- Wastewater Expert: Knowledge of MBBR, MBR, SBR, and conventional activated sludge processes.
- Software: Familiarity with process simulation software (e.g., ROSA, IMSDesign, BioWin) is an advantage.
- Languages: Excellent written and verbal English skills required.
