Job Summary:
The Lab / Blood Bank Specialist is responsible for performing laboratory tests, managing blood bank operations, and ensuring accurate analysis of samples. This role supports patient care by maintaining high standards of quality, safety, and compliance with healthcare regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform laboratory testing and analysis of blood, tissue, and other biological samples
- Manage blood bank operations, including collection, testing, processing, and storage of blood and blood products
- Ensure proper labeling, documentation, and inventory management of blood units and reagents
- Monitor and maintain laboratory equipment, ensuring calibration and functionality
- Comply with standard operating procedures (SOPs) and healthcare regulations
- Perform quality control and participate in proficiency testing programs
- Assist in donor screening and blood donation drives
- Maintain accurate patient and donor records in lab management systems
- Communicate test results and findings to physicians and medical staff promptly
- Ensure safety protocols and infection control measures are strictly followed
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Hematology, or related field
- Valid UAE laboratory license or eligibility to practice
- Minimum 2–5 years of experience in clinical laboratory and blood bank operations
- Knowledge of laboratory procedures, blood banking, and medical safety standards
- Familiarity with lab management software and reporting systems
- Attention to detail and high level of accuracy
