Structural Fabricator – Job Description
📌 Role Overview
A Structural Fabricator is responsible for cutting, shaping, assembling, and installing metal structures based on engineering drawings and specifications. This role is essential in construction, oil & gas, shipbuilding, and industrial projects.
🔧 Key Responsibilities
1. Fabrication Work
- Cut, bend, and shape steel and metal components using tools and machines
- Assemble structural parts such as beams, columns, frames, and supports
- Perform welding, grinding, and fitting as required
2. Reading Drawings
- Interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and layouts
- Follow precise measurements and specifications
- Ensure accuracy in fabrication work
3. Equipment Handling
- Operate fabrication machinery (cutting machines, drills, welding tools)
- Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition
4. Quality Control
- Inspect finished structures for accuracy and quality
- Ensure work meets safety and industry standards
5. Installation Support
- Assist in on-site installation and erection of structures
- Coordinate with engineers and supervisors
6. Safety Compliance
- Follow workplace safety rules and PPE requirements
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment
🎯 Requirements
- ITI / Diploma in fabrication, welding, or mechanical field (preferred)
- 2–5 years of experience in structural steel fabrication
- Ability to read and understand engineering drawings
- Knowledge of welding techniques (MIG, TIG, ARC)
- Physically fit and able to work in industrial environments
