Job Title: R&D / Product Development Engineer
Department: Busbar Product Development / Engineering
Reports To: R&D Manager – Busbar
🧠 Job Summary
We are looking for a dynamic R&D/Product Development Engineer to support the innovation and development of Busbar Trunking systems.
The role involves:
✔ Product design & development
✔ Prototyping and testing support
✔ Compliance with international standards (IEC61439, UL857)
✔ Cross-functional collaboration with engineering, sales & marketing teams
⚙️ Key Responsibilities
• Define product specifications, features & functionality
• Develop designs as per IEC & UL standards
• 3D modelling and 2D drafting of components
• Work on innovation and new product ideas
• Coordinate with suppliers for materials & components
• Follow the NPDI process and documentation
• Perform DFMEA (Design Failure Mode & Effects Analysis)
• Support prototype development
• Manage engineering change processes
• Maintain drawings, records & documentation
• Ensure timely response to design requests
• Follow safety, ethics & engineering standards
📌 Requirements / Skills
✔ Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical / Electrical / Design Engineering
✔ 3+ years of experience in manufacturing design/R&D
✔ Strong knowledge of:
- 3D modelling (Creo / SolidWorks or similar)
- 2D drafting (GD&T, first & third angle projection)
- PLM software
- DFM / DFA / DFE concepts
- ✔ Experience with:
- Sheet metal assemblies
- Plastic parts design (injection/extrusion)
- ✔ Knowledge of PFMEA, Control Plan, SOP
- ✔ Strong analytical & problem-solving skills
- ✔ Good communication & teamwork skills
- ✔ Microsoft Office + engineering tools experience
