Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and innovative R&D / Product Development Engineer to join our Busbar Trunking Systems division in Ras Al Khaimah, UAE.
The successful candidate will play a key role in the design, development, testing, and enhancement of busbar trunking products while ensuring compliance with international standards, customer requirements, and market expectations.
This role offers an excellent opportunity for engineers passionate about product innovation, engineering design, and manufacturing excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Product Design & Development
✅ Define product specifications, features, functionalities, and performance requirements.
✅ Develop product designs in accordance with international standards such as IEC 61439 and UL 857.
✅ Create and maintain detailed 3D models and 2D engineering drawings using SolidWorks, Creo, AutoCAD, or equivalent software.
✅ Design sheet metal assemblies, welded structures, plastic components, and complete product assemblies.
✅ Develop prototypes and support product testing and validation activities.
Engineering & Innovation
✅ Promote innovation and continuous improvement within the product development team.
✅ Research new technologies, materials, and manufacturing methods to improve product performance and competitiveness.
✅ Conduct product risk assessments using DFMEA (Design Failure Mode & Effects Analysis).
✅ Support Engineering Change Management processes for existing products.
Documentation & Compliance
✅ Prepare and maintain engineering documentation, including:
- Engineering Drawings
- Bills of Materials (BOM)
- Design Calculations
- Product Specifications
- Test Reports
- Technical Documentation
✅ Ensure compliance with NPDI (New Product Development & Introduction) procedures.
✅ Organize drawings and documentation for efficient reference and traceability.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
✅ Work closely with Manufacturing, Quality, Procurement, Sales, Marketing, and Offering Management teams.
✅ Coordinate with suppliers and external partners for component sourcing and development.
✅ Provide timely technical support and design information to internal stakeholders.
Qualifications
Education
🎓 Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Product Design Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related discipline.
Technical Skills
✅ Proficiency in SolidWorks, Creo, AutoCAD, or equivalent 3D CAD software.
✅ Strong experience in:
- 3D Modelling
- 2D Drafting
- GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing)
- First Angle & Third Angle Projection
✅ Knowledge of:
- Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) Systems
- DFM (Design for Manufacturing)
- DFA (Design for Assembly)
- DFE (Design for the Environment)
- Process Flow Development
- PFMEA
- Control Plans
- SOP Preparation
✅ Good knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and engineering documentation tools.
Experience Requirements
✅ Minimum 3+ years of product design experience in a manufacturing environment.
✅ Experience in:
- Power Distribution Products
- Busbar Trunking Systems
- Switchgear Products
- Electrical Enclosures
- Data Centre Solutions (Preferred)
✅ Experience designing:
- Mild Steel Sheet Metal Assemblies
- Welded Structures
- Extruded Components
- Injection Moulded Plastic Parts
✅ Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
