Job Summary
The Parts Manager is responsible for managing the procurement, inventory control, sales, and distribution of spare parts to ensure timely availability of materials and efficient department operations. The role involves overseeing parts stock levels, supplier coordination, team management, cost control, and customer service, particularly within automotive, heavy equipment, or industrial sectors.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage daily operations of the spare parts department.
- Develop and implement inventory management strategies to maintain optimal stock levels.
- Monitor parts availability, demand forecasting, and stock movement.
- Coordinate with suppliers for parts ordering, pricing, delivery schedules, and warranty claims.
- Maintain accurate inventory records and conduct regular stock audits.
- Manage purchasing activities and negotiate with vendors for competitive pricing.
- Supervise parts staff, warehouse teams, and counter sales personnel.
- Ensure proper storage, handling, and organization of spare parts.
- Analyze sales reports and identify opportunities to improve parts turnover.
- Ensure timely supply of parts to service departments, workshops, and customers.
- Handle customer inquiries related to parts availability, pricing, and delivery.
- Implement processes to reduce obsolete, slow-moving, and excess inventory.
- Prepare department reports, budgets, and performance analysis.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, and quality requirements.
- Coordinate with service, sales, and operations teams to support business objectives.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or diploma in Automotive Engineering, Business Administration, Supply Chain, or a related field.
- 5–10 years of experience in spare parts management, preferably in automotive, heavy equipment, or machinery industries.
- Experience managing inventory, procurement, and warehouse operations.
- Previous team leadership experience preferred.
