IT Supervisor – Job Description
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and proactive IT Supervisor to oversee the organization's IT infrastructure, technical support operations, systems, and IT staff. The successful candidate will ensure the reliable and secure operation of computer systems, networks, hardware, software, and other technology resources while providing effective support to users.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of the IT support team.
- Manage and maintain computer systems, servers, networks, and IT infrastructure.
- Monitor network performance, system availability, and overall IT operations.
- Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, network, and system issues.
- Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain computers, servers, printers, and other IT equipment.
- Manage user accounts, access permissions, passwords, and system security.
- Ensure regular data backups and assist with disaster recovery procedures.
- Monitor and maintain cybersecurity measures, antivirus solutions, firewalls, and access controls.
- Provide technical support and guidance to employees and resolve escalated IT issues.
- Maintain an updated inventory of IT hardware, software, licenses, and other technology assets.
- Coordinate with external IT vendors, service providers, and contractors when required.
- Implement IT policies, procedures, and security standards.
- Monitor software licenses and ensure compliance with applicable IT policies.
- Plan and coordinate system upgrades, installations, and IT projects.
- Prepare IT reports, maintenance records, and documentation.
- Train and guide IT staff and users on systems, software, and security best practices.
- Identify opportunities to improve IT efficiency, reliability, and security.
- Ensure timely resolution of IT support tickets and technical requests.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- Previous experience in IT support, system administration, or a supervisory IT role.
- Strong knowledge of computer hardware, operating systems, networking, and IT infrastructure.
- Experience with Windows environments, servers, LAN/WAN, Wi-Fi, and network troubleshooting.
- Knowledge of cybersecurity, data backup, access management, and IT asset management.
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Office and common business applications.
- Experience with helpdesk/ticketing systems is an advantage.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Good leadership, communication, and team-management skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and work effectively under pressure.
Preferred Skills
- Knowledge of Microsoft 365, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and basic server administration.
- Familiarity with firewalls, switches, routers, and network security.
- Experience managing IT vendors and service contracts.
- Relevant IT certifications such as CompTIA, Microsoft, Cisco, or equivalent are an advantage.
