Technical Office Engineer – Woodworks
Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Technical Office Engineer – Woodworks to manage the technical and engineering aspects of woodwork and joinery projects. The role involves preparing shop drawings, reviewing design documents, coordinating with production and site teams, preparing material requirements, and ensuring that all woodwork works comply with approved drawings, specifications, and project requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and review detailed shop drawings, fabrication drawings, and installation drawings for woodwork and joinery.
- Study architectural, structural, and interior design drawings to identify technical requirements and potential conflicts.
- Prepare detailed drawings and layouts for doors, wardrobes, kitchens, wall paneling, furniture, cabinets, counters, and other custom woodwork.
- Prepare cutting lists, material take-offs, and quantity calculations for woodwork materials.
- Coordinate with architects, designers, consultants, project engineers, production teams, and site supervisors.
- Review project specifications, BOQs, drawings, and material requirements.
- Prepare material submittals and obtain necessary technical approvals.
- Prepare and update drawings based on consultant/client comments.
- Coordinate with the production team to ensure drawings are practical and suitable for manufacturing.
- Provide technical support to site teams during installation and resolve technical issues.
- Prepare as-built drawings and maintain proper documentation.
- Assist in preparing work schedules and monitoring technical progress.
- Check dimensions, materials, finishes, hardware, and construction details before production.
- Identify design clashes, discrepancies, and constructability issues and propose suitable solutions.
- Ensure woodwork production and installation follow approved drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
- Maintain proper records of drawings, revisions, approvals, and technical documents.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Civil Engineering, Architectural Engineering, Interior Design, Wood Technology, or a related field.
- Relevant experience in woodwork, joinery, furniture, fit-out, or interior projects.
- Strong knowledge of woodwork construction methods, materials, fittings, and hardware.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD; knowledge of SketchUp, Revit, 3D modeling, or other design software is an advantage.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural and interior design drawings.
- Experience preparing shop drawings and detailed joinery drawings.
- Knowledge of material estimation, BOQ, and quantity take-off.
- Good understanding of manufacturing and installation processes.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Good communication and coordination abilities.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet project deadlines.
