Senior Procurement Engineer — Job Description
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and technically strong Senior Procurement Engineer to manage the procurement of engineering materials, equipment, systems, and services. The successful candidate will combine technical engineering knowledge with procurement expertise to ensure that required materials and equipment are sourced at the right quality, cost, and time while meeting project specifications, contractual requirements, and applicable standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute procurement strategies for engineering materials, equipment, components, and services.
- Review project specifications, drawings, bills of quantities (BOQs), material requirements, and technical documentation to identify procurement needs.
- Prepare procurement plans, schedules, purchase requisitions, requests for quotation (RFQs), and tender documentation.
- Identify, evaluate, prequalify, and develop qualified suppliers, manufacturers, and subcontractors.
- Source materials and equipment from local and international suppliers as required.
- Issue RFQs and conduct technical and commercial evaluations of supplier quotations.
- Prepare bid comparison statements and provide recommendations based on technical compliance, price, delivery, quality, and commercial terms.
- Coordinate with engineering and project teams to clarify technical specifications and resolve procurement-related issues.
- Negotiate prices, payment terms, delivery schedules, warranties, and other commercial conditions with suppliers.
- Prepare and issue purchase orders and procurement contracts in accordance with company procedures.
- Monitor supplier performance, production progress, inspection activities, and delivery schedules.
- Coordinate with suppliers, freight forwarders, logistics teams, quality inspectors, and project personnel to ensure timely delivery.
- Review and coordinate supplier technical submittals, drawings, datasheets, material certificates, and other documentation.
- Ensure procured materials and equipment comply with approved specifications, standards, drawings, and quality requirements.
- Coordinate with quality-control teams regarding inspections, testing, factory acceptance tests (FAT), and material approvals where applicable.
- Track procurement status and identify potential delays, shortages, or supply-chain risks.
- Develop and maintain procurement expediting and delivery-tracking reports.
- Resolve supplier performance issues, non-conformities, shortages, and delivery problems.
- Evaluate supplier performance and maintain approved vendor and supplier databases.
- Support cost-saving and value-engineering initiatives without compromising quality or project requirements.
- Monitor market conditions, material prices, supplier capabilities, and industry trends.
- Ensure procurement activities comply with company policies, project requirements, contractual obligations, and applicable regulations.
- Maintain complete and accurate procurement records, contracts, quotations, purchase orders, and supplier documentation.
- Prepare regular procurement reports, cost analyses, savings reports, and management updates.
- Mentor and guide junior procurement engineers and procurement staff.
- Perform other procurement and engineering-related duties assigned by management.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Procurement, Supply Chain Management, or a related technical field.
- 5–10 years of relevant experience in engineering procurement, technical procurement, or project procurement.
- Experience in construction, infrastructure, manufacturing, oil & gas, industrial, healthcare, or other technical industries is preferred.
- Professional certification such as CIPS, CPSM, or equivalent is an advantage.
- Strong understanding of engineering materials, equipment, specifications, and technical documentation.

- May require extended working hours to meet critical project procurement deadlines.
