Job Description – Instrument Technician

Job Summary

We are looking for a skilled and experienced Instrument Technician to install, maintain, troubleshoot, calibrate, and repair industrial instrumentation and control systems. The ideal candidate should have strong technical knowledge of measuring instruments, control systems, and preventive maintenance procedures, with a strong focus on safety and equipment reliability.

Key Responsibilities

Install, maintain, calibrate, test, and repair industrial instrumentation and control equipment.
Troubleshoot faults in instruments, control systems, and related equipment.
Perform preventive and corrective maintenance of instrumentation systems.
Calibrate instruments such as pressure, temperature, level, and flow transmitters.
Maintain and troubleshoot control valves, actuators, switches, sensors, and gauges.
Read and interpret P&ID, instrument loop diagrams, wiring diagrams, and technical drawings.
Conduct loop checking, instrument testing, and functional testing.
Assist in commissioning and start-up of instrumentation and control systems.
Maintain accurate records of calibration, inspection, maintenance, and repair activities.
Identify recurring equipment problems and recommend appropriate corrective actions.
Coordinate with electrical, mechanical, operations, and engineering teams when required.
Ensure proper handling and storage of tools, test equipment, and spare parts.
Follow preventive maintenance schedules and ensure timely completion of assigned tasks.
Ensure all work is performed in accordance with company safety procedures and applicable standards.
Participate in shutdown, turnaround, and emergency maintenance activities when required.

Instruments & Systems

Experience with some or all of the following will be an advantage:

Pressure, temperature, flow, and level instruments
Transmitters and switches
Control valves and actuators
Sensors and gauges
PLC and DCS systems
Instrument control panels
Pneumatic and electronic instrumentation
Calibration equipment and test instruments
Process control systems

Requirements

Diploma / ITI / Degree in Instrumentation, Electronics, Electrical, or a related technical field.
2–5 years of relevant industrial instrumentation experience.
Good knowledge of calibration, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance.
Ability to read P&IDs, loop diagrams, wiring diagrams, and instrument drawings.
Knowledge of industrial safety procedures and maintenance practices.
Good problem-solving and analytical skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a maintenance team.
Willingness to work shifts, shutdowns, and emergency maintenance when required.
