Job Title: Design Engineer
Job Summary
We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Design Engineer to develop technical designs, prepare engineering drawings, and provide design support for projects and product installations. The candidate will work closely with the sales, estimation, procurement, and project execution teams to ensure that designs meet customer requirements, technical specifications, applicable standards, and project deadlines.
The ideal candidate should have strong technical knowledge, proficiency in design software, and the ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications accurately.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed engineering drawings, layouts, and design documents based on project requirements.
- Develop 2D drawings and 3D models using AutoCAD, Revit, or other relevant design software.
- Review architectural, structural, and MEP drawings to ensure proper coordination.
- Prepare shop drawings, installation drawings, fabrication drawings, and as-built drawings as required.
- Review project specifications, BOQs, and technical documents before preparing designs.
- Coordinate with sales, estimation, procurement, and project teams to understand technical requirements.
- Conduct design calculations, material selection, and technical assessments as required.
- Ensure designs comply with applicable engineering standards, codes, and project specifications.
- Identify design conflicts and coordinate with the relevant teams to resolve technical issues.
- Assist the estimation team with quantity take-offs, material schedules, and technical specifications.
- Revise drawings and designs based on customer feedback, consultant comments, and site requirements.
- Provide technical support to site engineers and supervisors during project execution.
- Maintain proper documentation of drawings, revisions, calculations, and design approvals.
- Coordinate with suppliers and manufacturers for technical data, product specifications, and equipment details.
- Ensure timely completion and submission of drawings and design documents.
- Perform other engineering and design-related duties assigned by management.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
- Relevant experience in engineering design and technical drawing preparation is preferred.
- Freshers with strong technical knowledge and proficiency in design software may also apply.
- Knowledge of applicable engineering standards and technical specifications is an advantage.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and relevant engineering design software.
- Knowledge of Revit and BIM tools is an advantage.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and BOQs.
- Strong technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Good understanding of engineering principles and design calculations.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good communication and coordination skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel and Word.
- Knowledge of ERP systems and technical documentation is an advantage.
Preferred Experience
- Experience in mechanical, electrical, civil, MEP, or fire and safety system design.
- Knowledge of fire alarm systems, fire fighting systems, sprinkler layouts, hydrant systems, and fire pump installations, where applicable.
- Experience preparing technical submittals, material schedules, shop drawings, and as-built drawings.
- Familiarity with project specifications, consultant approvals, and site coordination.
- Experience in engineering, construction, contracting, or industrial projects is preferred.
