Job Summary:
The HVAC Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems. This role ensures optimal system performance, energy efficiency, and indoor air quality across all facilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install, inspect, service, and repair various HVAC/R equipment, including split units, package units, chillers, AHUs, FCUs, VAV boxes, and ductwork systems.
- Perform preventive maintenance tasks according to schedules, including cleaning coils, changing filters, checking refrigerant levels, and calibrating controls.
- Diagnose electrical and mechanical faults using schematic diagrams, multimeters, gauges, and other diagnostic tools.
- Handle refrigerants responsibly in compliance with environmental regulations (e.g., EPA 608 certification).
- Respond promptly to emergency breakdowns and work orders, minimizing system downtime.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed, parts used, and time spent on service requests.
- Collaborate with other technicians and the BMS team to optimize system performance.
- Ensure all work complies with company safety policies, OEM standards, and local building codes.
Qualifications & Skills:
- High School Diploma or equivalent; completion of a technical HVAC/R certification program preferred.
- Proven experience (3-5 years) as an HVAC technician.
- EPA Section 608 Certification (Type I, II, III, or Universal) mandatory.
- Strong knowledge of HVAC/R principles, electrical circuits, and refrigeration cycles.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
- Physical stamina to work in confined spaces, lift heavy equipment, and work at heights.
