Overview:
An IT Business Analyst acts as a critical liaison between the business stakeholders and the technology team. They analyze business processes, identify needs, and translate them into clear, actionable technical requirements and solutions that deliver value and align with organizational goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Requirements Elicitation: Conduct workshops, interviews, and meetings with stakeholders to gather and understand business needs, pain points, and objectives.
- Analysis & Documentation: Analyze current processes and systems. Document detailed business requirements, user stories, use cases, and functional specifications.
- Solution Design: Collaborate with architects and developers to design feasible technical solutions that meet business needs. Create process models and wireframes.
- Stakeholder Management: Facilitate communication between technical teams and non-technical business units, managing expectations and ensuring alignment.
- Testing Support: Assist in defining test strategies, creating user acceptance test (UAT) plans, and supporting business users during UAT.
- Change Management: Help manage the implementation of new systems or processes, including training, documentation, and support plans.
- Data Analysis: Analyze data to support business cases, identify trends, and measure the impact of implemented solutions.
- Agile/Scrum Participation: Often serves as a Product Owner or key support in Agile teams, managing the product backlog and prioritizing features.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Technical Skills:
- Strong understanding of software development lifecycles (SDLC) and methodologies (Agile, Waterfall).
- Proficiency in requirements management tools (Jira, Confluence, Trello).
- Competency in data analysis and visualization tools (SQL, Excel, Tableau).
- Basic understanding of system architecture and databases.
- Soft Skills: Exceptional communication, facilitation, and presentation skills. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
