Cashier
Job Description:
The Cashier in a healthcare facility (clinic/hospital) handles financial transactions at the point of service, including patient registrations, billing, and payments. This role requires accuracy, discretion with financial information, and excellent customer service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Greet patients, verify registration details, and check them in for appointments.
- Process payments (cash, credit card, insurance) for consultations, procedures, and pharmacy items.
- Issue receipts, invoices, and process refunds accurately.
- Handle insurance claims processing and verification of coverage.
- Answer basic billing inquiries from patients and direct complex issues to the finance department.
- Reconcile cash drawer at the beginning and end of each shift.
- Maintain a clean and organized front desk/reception area.
- Ensure all transactions comply with financial policies and patient confidentiality (HIPAA/DHA regulations).
Requirements:
- High school diploma. A degree or diploma in Finance/Accounting is advantageous.
- Prior cashiering or front-desk experience, ideally in a medical clinic, hospital, or pharmacy.
- Proficiency with point-of-sale (POS) systems and basic accounting software.
- Strong numerical skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Honest, trustworthy, and able to handle sensitive financial data.
