Job Overview:
A Light Vehicle Driver is responsible for the safe, efficient, and timely transportation of goods or passengers using light vehicles (cars, vans, SUVs, pickup trucks) with manual transmission. The role involves adhering to traffic laws, maintaining the vehicle, and providing excellent service, reflecting the employer's standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Safe Driving: Operate the assigned light vehicle (manual transmission) defensively and in full compliance with all UAE traffic laws, regulations, and road signs. Adapt driving to Abu Dhabi's specific road conditions.
- Route Planning: Plan optimal routes using GPS or local knowledge to ensure on-time deliveries or arrivals while avoiding traffic congestion and road closures.
- Loading/Unloading & Security: Safely load, unload, secure, and deliver goods, parcels, or equipment. Verify quantities against delivery notes and obtain signatures (proof of delivery). Ensure the security of the vehicle and its contents at all times.
- Vehicle Maintenance: Perform daily pre- and post-trip inspections (check oil, water, tires, brakes, lights). Report any mechanical defects or damage immediately. Ensure the vehicle is kept clean, fueled, and ready for use.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate logs of trips, mileage, fuel consumption, and delivery records as required by company policy.
- Customer/Passenger Service: Interact professionally with clients, customers, or passengers. For family/personal driver roles, this may include school runs, shopping, airport transfers, and other errands, requiring discretion and reliability.
- Compliance: Hold and maintain a valid UAE driving license for the appropriate vehicle category. Understand and comply with Salik (toll gate) procedures and any company-specific fleet policies.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Valid UAE Driving License for Light Vehicles (manual transmission) is mandatory.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of driving experience in the UAE, with a clean driving record.
- Must be proficient in driving manual transmission vehicles.
- Excellent knowledge of Abu Dhabi and the wider UAE's road networks, traffic patterns, and parking regulations.
- Good physical health and alertness for long hours of driving.
- Basic English communication skills (reading, speaking, understanding); Arabic is highly beneficial.
- For delivery roles: ability to lift and carry packages (up to 20-25 kg).
- For personal/family driver roles: trustworthiness, patience, and well-groomed appearance are critical.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
