About the Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced MEP Procurement Engineer with a strong background in Mechanical Engineering and proven experience in the UAE building construction sector. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing the end-to-end procurement of Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) packages, ensuring timely, cost-effective, and quality-driven sourcing to support our dynamic construction projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Sourcing & Vendor Management: Identify, pre-qualify, evaluate, and onboard suppliers and subcontractors for MEP packages (HVAC, Plumbing, Fire Protection, Electrical, etc.), with a focus on mechanical systems.
- Tender & Quotation Management: Prepare, issue, and manage tender documents, RFQs, and RFPs. Analyze bids, conduct technical and commercial evaluations, and lead negotiations to secure optimal terms.
- Cost Control & Budgeting: Work closely with the estimation and project teams to develop procurement budgets. Track costs, identify cost-saving opportunities, and ensure procurement aligns with project financial targets.
- Procurement Planning: Develop and implement project-specific procurement schedules to ensure material and equipment availability aligns with construction timelines.
- Technical Review: Review material submittals, shop drawings, and technical catalogs to ensure compliance with project specifications, local standards (UAE/Dubai Municipality, ADCD, etc.), and international codes.
- Contract Management: Assist in preparing subcontracts and purchase orders. Administer contracts, monitor supplier performance, and manage variations and claims.
- Coordination & Reporting: Liaise effectively with project managers, site engineers, and the planning department. Maintain accurate procurement records and provide regular status reports.
- Market Intelligence: Keep abreast of market trends, material price fluctuations, and new products/suppliers in the UAE MEP market.
Mandatory Requirements:
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years of direct experience in MEP procurement, specifically within the UAE building construction industry (high-rise, residential, commercial, mixed-use projects).
- Nationality: This position is exclusively open to Philippine nationals.
- Industry Background: Must have experience working for a main contractor or MEP subcontractor in the UAE.
- Technical Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of MEP systems, materials, equipment, and their applications in construction. Strong understanding of Mechanical systems (HVAC, Plumbing) is paramount.
- Systems Proficiency: Advanced skills in MS Office (Excel, Word), and experience with procurement/ERP software.
