Objective:
To oversee and inspect the work of Room Attendants and Public Area cleaners to ensure the highest standards of cleanliness, maintenance, and aesthetic appeal of all guest rooms and public spaces. To lead by example, train staff, and manage resources efficiently to meet hotel brand standards and guest expectations.
Key Responsibilities:
A. Staff Supervision & Training:
- Team Leadership: Assign daily tasks and sections to Room Attendants, Housemen, and Laundry Attendants. Prepare and distribute work schedules.
- Training & Development: Conduct on-the-job training for new hires on cleaning procedures, safety protocols, chemical usage, and guest service etiquette. Provide continuous coaching to existing staff.
- Performance Monitoring: Monitor staff performance, provide constructive feedback, and report both exceptional performance and areas of concern to the Executive Housekeeper.
B. Quality Control & Inspection:
- Room Inspections: Conduct detailed, systematic inspections of all assigned guest rooms (Vacant, Occupied, Check-Out, and Due-Out) before they are released as "ready" for sale. This includes checking cleanliness, amenities, maintenance issues, and minibar stock.
- Public Area Inspections: Regularly inspect lobbies, corridors, elevators, restrooms, and other public areas to ensure they are immaculate and well-maintained.
- Standard Enforcement: Ensure all cleaning is performed in accordance with the hotel's standard operating procedures (SOPs) and safety standards.
C. Operational Management:
- Inventory & Supplies: Manage the floor linen room and maids' cart supplies. Control the issuance of linen, guest supplies, and cleaning chemicals. Report shortages and place orders as needed.
- Lost & Found: Handle the lost and found procedure for the floor, ensuring items are logged, stored securely, and returned to guests promptly.
- Guest Interaction: Respond to guest requests and complaints regarding housekeeping service promptly and professionally. Take immediate corrective action and follow up to ensure guest satisfaction.
- Reporting: Maintain accurate records, including room status reports, maintenance work orders, inventory lists, and staff attendance.
- Safety & Security: Ensure all staff adhere to key control policies. Report any suspicious activity or items to security. Enforce safe working practices to prevent accidents.
D. Administrative Duties:
- Participate in daily briefings with the Executive Housekeeper.
- Prepare daily productivity reports and room status updates.
- Assist in conducting periodic deep cleaning and special projects.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- High school diploma required; additional certification in Housekeeping or Hospitality is a plus.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience as a Room Attendant, with at least 1 year in a supervisory role within housekeeping.
- In-depth knowledge of housekeeping operations, cleaning techniques, and chemical handling.
- Strong leadership, training, and team-building skills.
- Exceptional attention to detail and high standards for cleanliness.
- Excellent organizational, time management, and problem-solving abilities.
- Good physical health to walk and inspect rooms for entire shifts.
- Ability to handle guest complaints with tact and diplomacy.
- Proficiency in the local language; basic English communication skills are often required.
