Senior Quantity Surveyor / Cost Controller

Job Purpose:
To lead all commercial and cost management aspects of the project, ensuring financial control from tender stage to final account. This role involves managing the re-measurement contract, controlling project expenditures, and maximizing profitability while ensuring fair and accurate financial reporting .
Key Responsibilities:
- Cost Management & Control: Monitor and control all project expenditures, ensuring they align with the approved budget. Conduct regular cost analysis and forecasting to identify potential cost overruns and implement corrective actions .
- Measurement & Valuation: Lead the team in the re-measurement of works, preparing Bills of Quantities (BoQ) and valuing completed work for interim payment applications. Undertake discussions with the client to gain agreement on payment certificates .
- Variation & Claim Management: Prepare detailed cost estimates for variation orders. Assist in the preparation and evaluation of contractual claims, ensuring all financial impacts are accurately captured and substantiated .
- Value Engineering: Proactively identify and analyze value engineering opportunities, preparing cost comparisons and recommendations that maintain quality while reducing costs .
- Subcontract Administration: Manage the commercial aspects of subcontracts, including preparation of tender packages, evaluation of bids, measurement of subcontractor works, and certification of their monthly payments .
Qualifications & Experience:
- Education: Bachelor's Degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or Construction Economics. Professional membership (e.g., MRICS) is highly preferred .
- Experience: Minimum of 15 years of experience in quantity surveying and cost control, with a significant portion on large-scale EPC infrastructure or utility projects. Experience with re-measurement contracts is essential .
- Technical Skills: In-depth knowledge of FIDIC contracts and standard methods of measurement. Proficient in cost management software and MS Excel. Strong analytical and numerical skills .
- Soft Skills: Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills. High level of integrity, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment
