1. Job Purpose
The Sales Support Officer plays a critical tactical role in empowering the sales force to close deals more effectively. This position goes beyond administrative tasks to provide direct, hands-on support in the sales cycle, including complex quote preparation, tender management, and product expertise. The Officer serves as a key resource for both the sales team and customers, ensuring that technical and commercial inquiries are resolved promptly and accurately.
2. Key Responsibilities
Pre-Sales & Quotation Support:
- Develop detailed and accurate cost estimates, quotes, and tenders in response to customer Requests for Proposal (RFPs).
- Collaborate with sales reps to understand customer requirements and tailor proposals to meet specific needs.
- Liaise with product managers and technical teams to gather necessary information for complex bids.
- Maintain a library of standard and custom proposal templates and content.
Customer & Sales Team Enablement:
- Serve as an internal product knowledge resource, answering detailed questions from the sales team and customers.
- Conduct preliminary research on potential clients and market segments to support sales strategies.
- Assist in the development of sales scripts, objection handling guides, and competitive battle cards.
- Process and manage post-sale documentation, including contract amendments and addendums.
Data & Process Management:
- Monitor the sales pipeline in the CRM and proactively identify opportunities where support is needed to advance a deal.
- Generate routine and ad-hoc reports on sales performance, quote status, and support ticket resolution.
- Help maintain the integrity of product and pricing databases.
3. Qualifications & Experience
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Finance, or a relevant field.
- Experience: 2+ years of experience in a sales support, bid management, or pricing analyst role.
4. Skills & Competencies
- Analytical Mindset: Strong numerical and analytical skills with the ability to create complex quotes and understand pricing models.
- Detail-Oriented: Meticulous attention to detail, especially when working on legally binding quotes and tenders.
- Technical Knowledge: Proficiency in MS Office (Advanced Excel), CRM systems, and potentially CPQ (Configure, Price, Quote) software.
- Customer-Focused: A strong desire to help both internal (sales) and external (customer) stakeholders succeed.
- Excellent Communication: Ability to explain complex information clearly and concisely.
