Job Title: Gypsum Carpenter
Job Summary
The Gypsum Carpenter is responsible for installing, repairing, and finishing gypsum boards (drywall) for walls, ceilings, and partitions. The role requires precision, technical skill, and adherence to safety and quality standards to ensure a smooth and durable finish.
Key Responsibilities
- Measure, cut, and install gypsum boards for walls, ceilings, and partitions.
- Construct metal or wooden frameworks for drywall installation.
- Fix gypsum boards using screws, nails, or adhesives.
- Apply joint tape, putty, and compound to seal joints and achieve a smooth finish.
- Install false ceilings, bulkheads, and decorative gypsum features.
- Repair damaged drywall or ceiling structures.
- Interpret drawings, layouts, and specifications.
- Ensure alignment, leveling, and proper finishing of surfaces.
- Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition.
- Follow safety guidelines and site regulations at all times.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Minimum high school education or vocational training (preferred).
- Proven experience as a gypsum carpenter or drywall installer.
- Knowledge of materials such as gypsum boards, metal studs, and finishing compounds.
- Ability to read and understand technical drawings.
- Good physical stamina and ability to work at heights.
- Familiarity with hand and power tools.
- Understanding of safety procedures.
