Job Title: Head Pastry Chef
Job Summary
The Head Pastry Chef is responsible for leading the pastry and bakery section of the kitchen, overseeing the preparation of desserts, pastries, breads, and other baked goods. This role ensures high-quality production, creativity, consistency, and hygiene standards while managing the pastry team.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all pastry and bakery operations in the kitchen.
- Prepare and present desserts, pastries, cakes, breads, and other baked items.
- Develop and innovate new dessert menus and recipes.
- Supervise and train pastry kitchen staff.
- Ensure consistency, quality, and presentation of all pastry items.
- Manage inventory of baking ingredients and supplies.
- Control food costs, portioning, and minimize waste.
- Ensure cleanliness and compliance with food safety standards.
- Coordinate with the Head Chef for menu planning and special events.
- Monitor baking schedules to ensure timely production and service.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Diploma or certification in Pastry Arts / Culinary Arts (preferred).
- Proven experience as a pastry chef, preferably in a senior or head role.
- Strong knowledge of baking techniques, desserts, and confectionery.
- Creativity in presentation and recipe development.
- Good leadership and team management skills.
- Understanding of food safety and hygiene regulations.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
