Job Title: Diagnostic Technician (Automotive)
Job Summary
The Diagnostic Technician is responsible for identifying complex vehicle issues using advanced diagnostic tools and technical expertise. This role supports the service team by ensuring accurate fault detection and efficient repair solutions, especially in modern vehicles with electronic and computerized systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform advanced diagnostics on vehicles to identify mechanical, electrical, and electronic faults.
- Use diagnostic tools, scanners, and software to analyze vehicle systems (engine, transmission, ABS, ECU, etc.).
- Interpret error codes and determine root causes of issues.
- Work closely with Service Advisors and technicians to communicate findings and repair plans.
- Carry out complex repairs when required or guide technicians on proper repair procedures.
- Conduct test drives to verify issues and confirm successful repairs.
- Maintain detailed diagnostic reports and service documentation.
- Stay updated with the latest automotive technologies and manufacturer guidelines.
- Ensure adherence to safety standards and workshop procedures.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Diagnostic Technician in an automobile dealership or authorized service center.
- Strong knowledge of automotive electrical and electronic systems.
- Proficiency in using diagnostic equipment and tools.
- Ability to read technical manuals and wiring diagrams.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Diploma/Degree in Automobile Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
- OEM certification or brand-specific training (e.g., manufacturer diagnostic systems).
- Experience with dealership management systems (DMS).
