Food Runner – Job Description
Role Overview
A Food Runner is responsible for delivering food from the kitchen to guests quickly, accurately, and in excellent condition. They act as a key link between the kitchen and service staff, ensuring smooth and efficient restaurant operations and a positive guest experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Collect food orders from the kitchen and deliver them to the correct tables
- Ensure dishes are accurate, complete, and presented properly before serving
- Assist waiters in delivering food and clearing tables when needed
- Communicate clearly with kitchen and service staff to ensure smooth coordination
- Ensure food is served hot and in a timely manner
- Support table setup and reset during busy service periods
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in service areas
- Follow hygiene, safety, and restaurant service standards
- Assist in handling guest requests when required
Required Skills & Qualifications
- High school education or equivalent (preferred)
- No prior experience required, but hospitality experience is an advantage
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Physical stamina to carry trays and stand for long hours
- Attention to detail and accuracy in order delivery
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in restaurants, hotels, or catering services
- Basic knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices
- Familiarity with restaurant service flow and etiquette
- Experience working with POS systems like Toast POS or similar tools (optional)
