Job Title: Fleet Officer
Role Overview:
The Fleet Officer is responsible for managing and maintaining the organization’s vehicle fleet, ensuring operational efficiency, safety compliance, and cost control. This role involves vehicle tracking, maintenance coordination, driver management, and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Fleet Management
- Oversee day-to-day operations of the vehicle fleet (allocation, scheduling, and utilization)
- Ensure optimal use of vehicles to meet business needs
2. Vehicle Maintenance & Repairs
- Schedule regular servicing, preventive maintenance, and inspections
- Coordinate with workshops/vendors for timely repairs
- Maintain records of service history and vehicle condition
3. Driver Management
- Supervise drivers, manage duty rosters, and ensure adherence to schedules
- Verify driver licenses, conduct basic training, and monitor performance
4. Compliance & Documentation
- Ensure all vehicles comply with legal requirements (registration, insurance, permits, pollution certificates)
- Maintain accurate documentation and renewals
5. Fuel & Cost Monitoring
- Track fuel consumption and identify inefficiencies
- Monitor fleet expenses and implement cost-saving measures
6. Safety & Risk Management
- Enforce safety standards and driving protocols
- Investigate accidents/incidents and prepare reports
- Ensure vehicles are equipped with safety tools and emergency kits
7. Tracking & Reporting
- Use GPS/telematics systems to monitor vehicle movement and performance
- Generate reports on utilization, mileage, maintenance, and costs
8. Vendor & Asset Management
- Manage relationships with leasing companies, service providers, and fuel vendors
- Handle procurement or disposal of vehicles when required
Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Logistics, Transport Management, or related field
- 2–6 years of experience in fleet or transport management
- Knowledge of vehicle maintenance and transport regulations
- Familiarity with GPS tracking systems and fleet management software
- Good analytical and organizational skills
