Business Development Manager (Agency Channel) – Job Description
Job Summary
The Business Development Manager (BDM) – Agency Channel is responsible for recruiting, training, and managing insurance agents/advisors to drive business growth through the agency distribution channel. The role focuses on achieving sales targets, developing strong relationships with agents, and ensuring high productivity and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Recruit and onboard new insurance advisors/agents.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with agency partners.
- Train agents on products, sales techniques, and company processes.
- Drive sales performance to achieve monthly and annual business targets.
- Support agents in lead generation and client acquisition.
- Conduct regular field visits and joint sales calls with agents.
- Monitor agent productivity and provide performance feedback.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory guidelines.
- Prepare sales reports, MIS, and market intelligence updates.
- Coordinate with internal teams for policy issuance and customer service support.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Finance, or related field.
- MBA preferred (optional depending on company).
- 1–5 years of experience in sales, preferably in insurance or financial services.
- Experience in agency/channel sales is an advantage.
