Job Title
Steward (Kitchen Steward / Restaurant Steward)

Chief Steward / Restaurant Manager / Food & Beverage Manager / Executive Chef
Job Summary
The Steward is responsible for maintaining cleanliness, hygiene, and organization in kitchen and food service areas. This role supports kitchen and restaurant operations by cleaning dishes, utensils, equipment, and workspaces while ensuring compliance with food safety and sanitation standards.
Key Responsibilities
Cleaning & Sanitation
- Wash and sanitize dishes, glassware, cutlery, cooking utensils, and kitchen equipment.
- Clean kitchen floors, walls, workstations, storage areas, and waste disposal areas.
- Ensure all food preparation and service areas are maintained in a clean and hygienic condition.
- Follow cleaning schedules and sanitation procedures.
Kitchen Support
- Assist kitchen staff with basic operational tasks as required.
- Transport clean dishes, utensils, and equipment to designated storage areas.
- Replenish cleaning supplies and notify supervisors of shortages.
- Support food and beverage operations during busy service periods.
Waste Management
- Collect, sort, and dispose of waste according to company procedures.
- Ensure garbage bins are emptied regularly and kept clean.
- Follow recycling and waste reduction initiatives where applicable.
Equipment Maintenance
- Operate dishwashing machines and cleaning equipment safely and efficiently.
- Perform basic cleaning and maintenance of kitchen equipment.
- Report equipment malfunctions or maintenance needs promptly.
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Adhere to food safety, hygiene, sanitation, and workplace safety standards.
- Use cleaning chemicals and equipment according to safety guidelines.
- Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) and maintain a safe working environment.
- Support compliance with local health regulations and company policies.
Teamwork & Collaboration
- Work closely with chefs, kitchen staff, servers, and supervisors.
- Assist with setup and breakdown of kitchen and banquet operations when required.
- Support smooth kitchen operations through efficient cleaning and organization.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous experience in hospitality, restaurants, hotels, or food service environments is an advantage.
- Basic understanding of hygiene and sanitation practices.
