Job Description: Senior Accountant
Job Summary
The Senior Accountant is responsible for overseeing the organization's accounting operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements, and supporting financial planning and decision-making. The role supervises accounting activities, manages month-end and year-end closing processes, and assists in budgeting, audits, and internal controls.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets, and bank reconciliations.
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with applicable accounting standards.
- Manage month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
- Review journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting documentation for accuracy and completeness.
- Monitor cash flow, working capital, and financial transactions to support business operations.
- Prepare and analyze financial reports, budgets, forecasts, and variance analyses for management.
- Ensure compliance with tax regulations, statutory reporting requirements, and company financial policies.
- Coordinate with external auditors, internal auditors, tax consultants, and regulatory authorities during audits and inspections.
- Maintain and strengthen internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure financial integrity.
- Supervise and mentor junior accounting staff, providing guidance and performance support.
- Assist in developing and implementing accounting policies, procedures, and process improvements.
- Support financial planning, budgeting, and strategic decision-making by providing accurate financial insights.
- Maintain the confidentiality of financial information and ensure proper record retention.
- Perform other finance and accounting responsibilities assigned by management.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Professional certification such as CPA, ACCA, CMA, or CA is preferred.
- Minimum of 5–8 years of progressive accounting experience, including experience in a senior accounting role.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting standards, and taxation.
- Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, Tally, or similar).
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and experience preparing financial analyses and reports.
