Job Description: Senior Accountant
Job Summary
The Senior Accountant is responsible for managing day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements, and supporting financial planning and analysis. The role oversees general ledger activities, month-end and year-end closing processes, reconciliations, budgeting support, and coordination with auditors while providing guidance to junior accounting staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and oversee daily accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and bank reconciliations.
- Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports.
- Lead month-end and year-end closing activities, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
- Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, identifying and resolving discrepancies.
- Prepare journal entries, accruals, provisions, and adjustments in accordance with accounting standards.
- Monitor cash flow, expenses, and budget performance, providing financial insights to management.
- Assist in the preparation of annual budgets, forecasts, and financial analyses.
- Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, tax regulations, and company policies.
- Coordinate internal and external audits by preparing schedules and supporting documentation.
- Review and process vendor payments, customer receipts, and payroll-related accounting entries.
- Maintain fixed asset registers and oversee depreciation calculations.
- Prepare tax filings and statutory reports as required.
- Develop and improve accounting processes and internal controls to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Supervise and mentor junior accounting staff, providing technical guidance and support.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support business operations and financial decision-making.
- Perform other accounting and finance-related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Professional certification such as CPA, ACCA, CMA, or CA is preferred.
- 5–8 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in a corporate environment.
- Strong knowledge of financial reporting standards, accounting principles, and tax regulations.
- Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems (such as SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, or Tally).
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
