Job Description: Reconciliation Specialist (1-Year Project)
Job Summary
The Reconciliation Specialist is responsible for performing detailed account reconciliations, investigating discrepancies, and ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial records throughout the duration of the one-year project. The role involves reviewing transactions, reconciling balances between systems and financial statements, identifying variances, and coordinating with internal teams to resolve outstanding issues within agreed timelines.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform daily, weekly, and monthly reconciliations of financial accounts, including bank accounts, general ledger accounts, customer accounts, vendor accounts, and intercompany balances.
- Analyze transaction records, statements, and financial data to identify discrepancies and resolve reconciliation differences.
- Investigate and document variances, unmatched transactions, and outstanding items.
- Coordinate with finance, accounting, operations, and other departments to obtain supporting information and resolve issues.
- Prepare reconciliation reports, aging analysis, and status updates for management review.
- Ensure all reconciliation activities are completed accurately and within defined deadlines.
- Review financial data for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with company policies and accounting standards.
- Maintain proper documentation and audit trails for all reconciliation activities.
- Support month-end and year-end closing activities by completing assigned reconciliations.
- Assist in data cleansing, account reviews, and financial system validation activities.
- Identify process gaps and recommend improvements to enhance reconciliation efficiency.
- Support project-related financial analysis and reporting requirements.
- Maintain confidentiality of financial information and follow internal control procedures.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related field.
- 2–5 years of experience in account reconciliation, finance operations, accounting, or a similar role.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial transactions, and reconciliation processes.
- Experience handling large volumes of financial data and transaction reviews.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis.
- Experience with ERP/accounting systems such as SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar platforms is preferred.
- Strong analytical skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently, manage deadlines, and deliver accurate results in a project-based environment.
