Construction Manager – Job Description
Job Summary
The Construction Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing construction projects from commencement through completion. The role involves managing site operations, contractors, subcontractors, materials, schedules, budgets, quality, and safety to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, coordinate, and manage day-to-day construction activities at project sites.
- Supervise contractors, subcontractors, site engineers, supervisors, and other construction personnel.
- Develop and monitor project schedules, ensuring milestones and deadlines are achieved.
- Coordinate with architects, engineers, consultants, clients, and other project stakeholders.
- Review drawings, specifications, BOQs, method statements, and construction documents.
- Monitor project progress and prepare regular progress reports.
- Ensure construction work is carried out according to approved drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
- Manage project resources, including manpower, equipment, materials, and subcontractors.
- Monitor project costs and assist with budget control and cost optimization.
- Identify construction issues, delays, risks, and potential conflicts and implement appropriate corrective actions.
- Ensure compliance with applicable building codes, regulations, permits, and contractual requirements.
- Implement and maintain high standards of health, safety, and environmental practices on site.
- Conduct regular site inspections and quality-control checks.
- Coordinate material procurement and ensure timely availability of materials and equipment.
- Review and approve work completed by contractors and subcontractors where authorized.
- Maintain accurate project documentation, records, reports, and site correspondence.
- Participate in meetings with clients, consultants, contractors, and management.
- Support project handover, snagging, testing, commissioning, and close-out activities.
- Resolve site-related technical and operational issues in coordination with relevant stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or a related field.
- Relevant professional certifications are an advantage.
- Proven experience in construction project management or site management.
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, drawings, specifications, and project procedures.
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations and quality-control practices.

Working Conditions
