Job Description: Draughtsman
Job Summary
The Draughtsman is responsible for preparing accurate technical drawings, plans, layouts, and detailed designs based on engineering specifications, architectural concepts, and project requirements. This role works closely with engineers, architects, and project teams to ensure drawings comply with applicable standards, codes, and project specifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed 2D and 3D technical drawings using CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, SolidWorks, or other drafting software).
- Interpret engineering and architectural drawings, sketches, and specifications.
- Develop construction, fabrication, shop, and as-built drawings.
- Revise and update drawings based on design changes and project requirements.
- Coordinate with engineers, architects, consultants, and project teams to ensure drawing accuracy.
- Ensure all drawings comply with company standards, project specifications, and applicable codes and regulations.
- Maintain drawing registers, document control, and revision histories.
- Prepare material take-offs and assist with quantity calculations when required.
- Support project planning and execution by providing accurate technical documentation.
- Review drawings for completeness, consistency, and quality before submission.
- Assist in resolving technical drawing-related issues during project execution.
- Maintain organized electronic and hard-copy drawing files.
Qualifications
- Diploma or Associate Degree in Drafting, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Architecture, or a related technical field.
- 2–5 years of experience as a Draughtsman in construction, engineering, manufacturing, or a related industry.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and other relevant drafting software.
- Knowledge of engineering drawing standards and construction practices.

Working Conditions

- Knowledge of local building codes and engineering standards.
- Experience in preparing shop drawings, fabrication drawings, or as-built drawings.
- Familiarity with document management systems and quality control procedures.
