Job Description: Planning Engineer
Job Summary
The Planning Engineer is responsible for developing, monitoring, and updating project schedules to ensure timely and cost-effective project delivery. This role works closely with project managers, engineers, procurement, and site teams to plan project activities, monitor progress, identify potential delays, and recommend corrective actions.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop detailed project schedules using project management software (e.g., Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project).
- Prepare Work Breakdown Structures (WBS), project baselines, and resource-loaded schedules.
- Monitor project progress against approved schedules and milestones.
- Analyze project performance and identify schedule variances, delays, and risks.
- Prepare recovery plans and recommend corrective actions to achieve project objectives.
- Coordinate with engineering, procurement, construction, and subcontractor teams to ensure alignment with project timelines.
- Prepare and submit weekly and monthly progress reports, dashboards, and schedule updates.
- Conduct critical path analysis and evaluate project impacts resulting from changes.
- Support project budgeting, resource planning, and forecasting activities.
- Review contractors' schedules and verify progress against project plans.
- Participate in project meetings and provide planning and scheduling updates.
- Maintain project planning documentation and ensure compliance with company procedures and contractual requirements.
- Assist in claims analysis, extension of time (EOT) assessments, and project close-out activities where applicable.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
- 3–7 years of experience in project planning and scheduling, preferably in construction, infrastructure, oil & gas, or industrial projects.
- Proficiency in Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, or other scheduling software.
- Knowledge of project management principles and scheduling techniques.
- Familiarity with engineering and construction processes.

Preferred Qualifications
- Certification in project management (e.g., PMP) is an advantage.
- Primavera P6 Professional certification is preferred.
- Experience with Earned Value Management (EVM), project controls, and delay analysis.
- Knowledge of contract administration and claims management is an added advantage.
