Job Description: Senior Project Engineer – MEP Projects
Job Summary
The Senior Project Engineer – MEP Projects is responsible for planning, coordinating, supervising, and executing Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) works to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and in accordance with approved specifications and quality standards. The role involves coordinating with clients, consultants, subcontractors, vendors, and internal teams while providing technical leadership and guidance to project engineers and site engineers.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and coordinate daily MEP project activities in line with project schedules and milestones.
- Supervise the installation, testing, commissioning, and handover of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, fire protection, and ELV systems.
- Review project drawings, specifications, BOQs, shop drawings, and technical submittals for compliance.
- Coordinate with consultants, architects, civil and structural teams, and other stakeholders to resolve technical and construction issues.
- Monitor project progress and ensure work is executed according to approved plans, quality standards, and safety requirements.
- Lead site engineers, supervisors, and subcontractors to achieve project objectives.
- Assist the Project Manager in project planning, resource allocation, budgeting, and cost control.
- Monitor material requirements, procurement schedules, and equipment availability to avoid delays.
- Conduct regular site inspections to ensure compliance with quality standards, contract specifications, and statutory regulations.
- Review and verify contractor measurements, work progress, and invoices.
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly progress reports and maintain project documentation.
- Participate in project coordination meetings and provide technical recommendations.
- Identify project risks, delays, and technical challenges, and implement corrective actions.
- Support testing, commissioning, snagging, final inspections, and project close-out activities.
- Ensure compliance with HSE policies, company procedures, and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
- Professional certifications in Project Management, HVAC, Electrical, or MEP systems are an advantage.
- PMP certification is preferred but not mandatory.
Experience
- 7–12 years of experience in MEP project execution.
- Minimum 3–5 years in a senior engineering or project engineering role.
- Experience in commercial, residential, industrial, healthcare, hospitality, or infrastructure projects.
- Proven experience managing multidisciplinary MEP activities and coordinating multiple stakeholders.
Technical Skills
- Strong knowledge of HVAC, electrical distribution, plumbing, drainage, fire protection, firefighting, ELV, and building services systems.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Project or Primavera P6.
- Working knowledge of BIM coordination (Revit/Navisworks) is desirable.
- Familiarity with local and international MEP codes, standards, and regulations.
- Ability to review shop drawings, technical submittals, and commissioning documentation.
- Strong understanding of project planning, scheduling, procurement, and contract administration.
