Design Engineering Executive — Job Description
Job Summary
The Design Engineering Executive is responsible for supporting the development, modification, and implementation of engineering designs in accordance with project requirements, technical specifications, quality standards, and applicable codes. The role coordinates with engineering, production, procurement, project, and site teams to ensure designs are accurate, practical, cost-effective, and delivered within agreed timelines.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and develop engineering designs, drawings, layouts, and technical documentation.
- Translate project requirements, concepts, and specifications into practical engineering designs.
- Create, modify, and review 2D drawings and 3D CAD models.
- Coordinate with engineers, designers, project teams, suppliers, and other departments on design requirements.
- Review designs for technical accuracy, functionality, manufacturability, constructability, and compliance.
- Conduct basic engineering calculations, material selections, and design evaluations as required.
- Prepare design specifications, bills of materials, technical schedules, and related documentation.
- Incorporate approved design changes and maintain accurate drawing revisions.
- Support prototype development, testing, inspection, and design validation where applicable.
- Identify design issues, technical risks, and potential conflicts and coordinate corrective actions.
- Coordinate with procurement and suppliers regarding technical specifications and materials.
- Provide technical support to production, installation, maintenance, and project teams.
- Assist in resolving site or production-related technical issues.
- Participate in design reviews, project meetings, and technical discussions.
- Maintain design records, drawings, calculations, approvals, and engineering documentation.
- Ensure designs comply with applicable engineering standards, safety requirements, company procedures, and customer specifications.
- Support value engineering and continuous improvement initiatives to improve product performance, quality, and cost efficiency.
- Assist with preparation of as-built drawings and final technical documentation.
- Perform other engineering and design activities assigned by the Design or Engineering Manager.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, Mechatronics, or a relevant Engineering discipline.
- 2–5 years of experience in design engineering, engineering design, or a related technical role.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or relevant CAD software.
- Experience with 3D modelling software such as SolidWorks, Inventor, Revit, or similar is an advantage.
- Good understanding of engineering drawings, specifications, dimensions, tolerances, and design standards.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, manuals, and engineering specifications.
- Knowledge of engineering materials, manufacturing processes, and design principles is an advantage.
- Good analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good communication and coordination skills.
- Ability to manage multiple design assignments and meet deadlines.
- Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel and Word.
